JUTC Sub-Franchise Operators: President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services (TODSS), Egeton Newman is again taking the government to task for being unresponsive to its many appeals over the years. According to Newman, the practice has reached annoyance level.

At a press conference on Thursday, Newman described October 1 as a sad day for Transport Operators. Sub-Franchise Bus Operators under the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) are now facing the possibility of having their vehicles seized, as road licenses expired as of September 30.

With the reduction in passengers taking public transportation and the requirement of one less passenger due to COVID-19, Bus and Taxi Operators have been baring the brunt of an unfortunate situation.

The Transport Operators group is appealing to the government for a waiver of road license fees.

Newman says two months ago, TODSS wrote a letter to the JUTC, asking it to waive fees.  But that has not been forthcoming.
