Klansman Trial Adjourned Until May 2 Due to Inefficiencies

As courts prepare to resume jury trials, the last week in March, concerns were raised by Chief Justice Bryan Sykes who highlighted a great need for resources to expedite the legal process. Judge Sykes says the current methods of processing cases are counterproductive and contrary to the twenty-four-month time frame for matters to be dealt with. These inefficiencies have led to the adjournment of the Klansman Gang Trial until the first week of May.

The prosecution previously asked for a week to analyze reports received from the Communication Forensic & Cybercrime Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. However there was a delay in uploading the material in a timely manner to a virtual database for the defense attorneys to analyse.

Recordings taken during investigations in 2017 have not been fully transcribed up to 5 years later. The alleged gang members on trial did not seem jostled by the development but had one complaint.

Judge Sykes advised that defendants should be allowed to eat once the food is delivered. More details here:
