Addressing issues relating to the use of unnecessary violence to reprimand street vendors, Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams says the Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) will be more focused on educating enforcement officers on how to properly and respectfully handle vendors; the Mayor also urges citizens to also be respectful to the officers.
Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams walked the streets of Downtown, Kingston on Saturday, he notes the heightened presence of shoppers in the space. He also visited the stall of the vendor who was seen in a viral video in a confrontation with members of the force, while his stall was destroyed and his goods confiscated. Addressing the situation, the Mayor says the issue occurred in September, and has already been dealt with. Watch the report below:
