Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) Spreads Warmth and Cheer to Those in Need
The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) went above and beyond to share the joy of Christmas with the less fortunate within the municipality. Despite their ongoing efforts to provide daily meals for homeless individuals, the KSAMC organized a special Christmas treat to bring a little extra brightness to their lives. While many families gather and celebrate together during the winter season, it’s crucial to recognize that this is not the reality for countless homeless individuals. Addressing this gap in festive joy, the KSAMC hosted a heartwarming Christmas treat for the homeless in the area. Mayor Delroy Williams expressed his satisfaction with the large turnout, emphasizing the significance of spreading love and kindness during the holiday season.
The treat, however, is just a small part of the ongoing efforts by KSAMC to provide daily sustenance for those in need. A considerable number of impacted individuals are presently housed at the Desmond McKenzie Transitional Facility and the Marie Atkins Night Shelter. Notably, the majority of residents are elderly, prompting considerations to transfer some to the Sunshine City Golden Age Home. Mayor Williams urged families to be prepared for the challenges associated with this aspect of life and emphasized the importance of community support. While the annual Christmas treat is a delightful event for homeless individuals in and around Kingston and St. Andrew, it is essential to recognize the consistent commitment of KSAMC to addressing the needs of the less fortunate. The Corporation remains steadfast in its mission to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing homelessness, not just during the holiday season but throughout the year.
