Principal of the Retirement Primary School in St. Elizabeth is still receiving medical attention, after a near-fatal attack on the school’s compound last week Friday. The school’s Chairman and several other principals are blaming the lack of fencing and a security guard for the incident.
Principal Robinson-Terrelonge was chopped by a mentally-ill man on the school compound while reportedly asking the man to leave the institution – after he entered the premises with a machete, sending teachers and students into panic. The interaction resulted in the principal sustaining chop wounds to her head and upper body.
The School’s Board Chairman Herman Samuels says this incident could have been avoided if the relevant persons approved his countless requests for heightened security on the school’s compound. He says the school community is traumatized, with many students dreading their return to classes.
