Lawyer Refutes Forged Document Claim In Relation To Hayles

Allegations of conflict of interest, impropriety, or irregularity in relation to the construction of buildings by Ian Hayles without approval from the Hanover Parish Council formed the basis of a Contractor General Report dating back to 2017.

The Integrity Commission having since subsumed that office following the dismissal of a Supreme Court order on December 20, 2022 that previously barred the parliament from publishing the findings referred some of the matters for investigation. In 2017 then Contractor General Dirk Harrison referred a number of the matters to the Police Commissioner for investigation.

On Thursday the Integrity Commission says under section 46 -two of the act has referred the investigation report to the Commission’s Director of Investigation, where a determination will be made whether or not an investigation into the matter is warranted.

Lead attorney for Hayles and his family, Kings Counsel Peter Champagnie says his client is innocent. He says the mention of a forged document left him further perplexed. The Defense Attorney also warns the public against erroneous information and falsehoods in relation to the matter and his clients.
