Limbo: Fresh Calls For Funeral Industry Regulations

In response to persistent reports of irregularities in the funeral and mortuary industry, Calvin Lyn, President of the Jamaica Association of Certified Embalmers and Funeral Directors, is urging the government to expedite the implementation of regulations. Families in mourning allege exploitation as they face exorbitant charges from some funeral homes. Lyn emphasizes the need for stringent regulations to enhance safety and curb such complaints, highlighting the confusion surrounding the responsible ministry since 2014. Despite promises, the issue remains unresolved, with a looming deadline for government action.
