Police in St Catherine were out in their numbers on Labour Day as they sought to ensure there was compliance to the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA)
It was reminiscent of a ghost town when our news team traversed the old capital on Monday, with barely any signs of movement as all businesses were closed and a few persons making their way home.
Our news team noticed some police officers carrying out spot checks while ensuring there were no breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act.
Meanwhile, the state-operated Jamaica Urban Transit Company buses provided limited service and proved the only mode of public transportation visible at the time catering to essential workers.
One taxi operator says though COVID-19 cases have climbed, he’s hopeful the heightened restrictions will restore normality.
Meantime, the Spanish Town police say there were persons in the Linstead area who were in breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act.
