Local Government to Launch Cleanup Sensitization Project

Speaking at the Trelawny Parish Council on July 8, Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says the Ministry will be launching a Cleanup Sensitization Project.

He says the project comes as the Minister says the overflow of garbage was a major issue after Tropical Storm Elsa brought heavy rains to the island recently and that the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season is projected to be very active.

The Minister states that the improper disposal of garbage poses an issue for the Government, as the cleaning of drains is very costly. He also states that the initiative seeks to bolster the cleaning up measure and send a message of cleanliness.
