As the local sugar industry is impacted by the global shortage, President of the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) John Mahfood, Notes the local manufacturers are struggling with sales in sugar made locally.
He says this has led to manufacturers pivoting to importation. However, he notes says there’s prohibition by the government, a position he does not support. However, going forward, Mahfood notes the JMEA will be providing the necessary resources that will assist companies regarding export.
