Maitland who was charged with the murder of his missing girlfriend, social media influencer, Donnalee Donaldson, made his second appearance in the supreme court, in downtown Kingston to seek bail, Tuesday.
Minutes after 10 Tuesday morning the police constable made his appearance with his legal representatives, in the presence of the mother of the missing woman, Sophia Lugg, with her eyes welled with tears.
The prosecutor demonstrated shocking allegations, including cell site analysis on Donaldson’s telephone, which indicates the missing woman was in the geographical area of Chelsea Avenue, the address of the accused.
Subsequent to a missing person’s report on July 13, 2022, the accused allegedly visited a hardware store sometime in the afternoon along Constant Spring Road, to arrange for a truck driver who followed him to his apartment to retrieve a couch.
The couch was loaded onto the truck with assistance from another man, Maitland then led the truck driver to a car wash in half way tree behind his grey BMW vehicle.
Upon arrival, Maitland and two men alighted from his car and had the couch removed. It is said that Maitland went to the same car wash earlier to make inquiries about washing a couch because his cousin had suffered an injury to his hand, quote “and it bleed out pon a little part a the settee” end quote
Later that day the same attendant observed alleged blood stains on the right side, upon washing it she noticed a significant amount of blood coming out.
She then said, quote, “Jesus this man must dead, him bleed out or them kill somebody inna it” At which point Donaldson’s mother broke down in tears.
The prosecutor submits that there is a risk to surrender custody of the accused man who will interfere with witness or otherwise obstruct justice for himself, they went on to cite a number of instances.
Meanwhile, Maitland’s Attorney Christopher Townsend, argues the evidence gathered against his client is weak and asserts that his client is an excellent candidate for bail
The bail application was adjourned until October 13, 2022, while Maitland remains in custody.
