COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Manchester. It is the parish that has been hot on the COVID-radar for the past weeks.
In identifying ways to curb the continuous and seemingly rapid spread of the virus, Mayor of Manchester, Donovan Mitchell says more attention must be paid to public transportation in the parish.
In the meantime, the police say the illegal gatherings continue to put a dent in their efforts as they enforce the protocols.
Under the Disaster Risk Management Act the police say there are required to first warn citizens, then if they are caught in breach a second time they are liable to be charged.
The police want this to change as they argue, it is significantly hampering their ability to prosecute those in breach.
Acting Medical Officer, Dr. Shonette Blair-Walters says unless the level of complacency shown by citizens changes across the parish, the virus crisis will only worsen in Manchester.
As at Monday, February 15, a total of 1428 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Manchester.
