Manchester Crime On The Decline, Husband Arrested For Teacher’s Murder

The Head of the Manchester Police Division, Superintendent Wayne Cameron says crime is on the decline in the parish. He made the statement at the recent Manchester Municipal Corporation meeting where he spoke about the efforts being made by police officers to identify, locate and apprehend criminals.

According to Superintendent Cameron, there were 317 crimes reported between January and September 12, 2019, compared to 348 reports in the same period last year. He shared that this is a 9% decrease and reinforces the efforts of law enforcement.

However, he notes that there have been challenges dealing with crimes linked to disputes. He adds that there have been several robberies committed by residents in the parish and those who have migrated from Clarendon due to the enhanced security measures.

Earlier this year in July, a teacher at the Bishop Gibson High School, Carolyn Davis Campbell, was murdered at her home in Melrose Mews. It was reported that a gunman invaded the home and shot Davis Campbell. Her husband, Gregory Campbell, who was present in the house was not harmed.

Following the incident, several statements were taken from him, however, the police reportedly found inconsistencies with the statements. Superintendent Cameron says Gregory Campbell has been charged and is scheduled to appear before the court.
