Now, only the bathroom remains. But the structural damage to the family home is but a surface-level analysis of the loss the family suffered. Sunday morning, one of the occupants of this Craighead Manchester home drew the family’s attention to the overwhelming heat coming from one of the doors, a sign of fire in the outdoor kitchen.
When the family woke, they tried to extinguish the fire but saw only one option, the chance to save their life. They say within minutes, the house was completely engulfed in fire. Four children, the eldest only 12 years old, are facing setbacks at the start of the new school term, following the destruction of their books and uniforms.
In hand, phones burnt beyond use. And nearby, a water tank, partially spared the wrath of the raging flames only because it was full of water. They are seeking assistance from the public, as they focus on rebuilding.
