Marine Police Seize Boats With Compressed Ganja

In an effort to disrupt the gun for drugs trade, the Marine Police have seized two vessels in Westmoreland and St. Mary destined for two different Caribbean countries.

Meanwhile, one marine official is calling for stronger and more effective measures at the nation’s borders.

The Police arrested two men in Bluefields, Westmoreland on Thursday morning. They had over 200 pounds of compressed marijuana destined for the Bahamas. Superintendent of Police in the Marine Division, Robert Walker says technology was used to detect the boat and the men are now to be prosecuted.

Additionally, another seizure was carried out in Oracabessa, St. Mary on Friday morning. The Police pursued a vessel that was reportedly destined for Haiti.

To add, Superintendent Walker is warning that persons involved in this illegal activity will face penalties.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Police in charge of Strategic Operations, Clifford Blake reiterates the need for efficient marine security.
