Kingston Mayor Delroy Williams is expected to tour sections of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipality, (KSAMC) tomorrow following the passage of Tropical Storm Grace. This after several communities were flooded and homes ravaged by the heavy rains brought on by the storm, Tuesday, August 17.
Mayor Williams has met with engineers and other stakeholders to strategize. Williams says while the water has receded in some areas worst hit, more flooding and outages are expected throughout the evening. The Mayor says some corporate entities and agencies had been sent home workers early to prevent undue exposure to flooding and disaster.
The Kingston Mayor said there has been repeated reports of flooding in the Municipality, and among some of the worst hit areas are Bull Bay and sections of Waltham Park. He also noted that while there has also been reports of the downing of trees, power outage and the inaccessibility of WIFI in these areas, residents can expect to see some improvements in terms of water levels.
Mayor Williams says while shelters were unoccupied, managers, volunteers and elected representatives across the Municipality were on standby to assist if the need arose.
