COVID-19 Risk Regarded Low At Sangster International Airport

COVID-19 risk regarded low – A week ago, MBJ Airports Limited announced that it had three (3) confirmed COVID-19 cases among Immigration Officers at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. They tested positive for the virus in the week of September 2.

Persons and/or staff who could have been exposed were identified and contact tracing carried out by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The Immigration Officers assigned to the Sangster International Airport who tested positive for COVID-19 did not contract the virus at the airport. That’s according to the Manager of commercial business development and marketing for MBJ Airports Limited, Sharon Hislop-Holt.

Additionally, she says no other airport users were exposed to the confirmed cases.

In keeping with the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 safety measures, MBJ Airports Limited has been sensitizing the workers and airport users on the basic hygiene practices as well as the protocols in place, since March, 2020.

Meanwhile, the  President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), Omar Robinson tells CVM LIVE that there is no known transmission of the virus among visitors and workers within the three resilient corridors.
