In the wake of recent alterations at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, transport operators and travelers find themselves grappling with heightened congestion in the vicinity. The airport’s new road changes, implemented at the onset of the winter season, have exacerbated the already crowded area.
Jamaica Union Travelers Association (JUTA) operators express frustration as traffic crawls at a turtle-like pace. Despite designated routes for arrivals and departures, both streams converge at the same point for travelers entering the airport, posing an additional challenge.
The traffic congestion not only impacts travelers but also presents difficulties for airport employees. While MBJ staff initially agreed to discuss the matter, they later conveyed a preference to address it at another time upon our team’s arrival.
