Jamaica’s Tourism Industry is slated to see significant growth in short order. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett made the announcement during his address at a United Nations high-level Thematic Debate on Tourism in New York on Wednesday. He says Jamaica’s resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and plans going forward to protect the industry.
Bartlett says the tourism industry ended 2020 with a staggering 2.3-billion-dollar loss. In addition, over one hundred and thirty thousand tourist workers were laid off. However, he notes the industry bounced back shortly after. The Minister spoke under the theme “putting sustainable and resilient tourism at the heart of an inclusive recovery”. Watch the full report:
