The Ministry of Education (MOE) Is under scrutiny from the opposition, as shadow minister for education Dr. Angela Brown-Burke says there is a disconnect between the Ministry and its stakeholders. She says while the ministry has taken steps to address the learning loss amid the pandemic, their efforts have proven to be insufficient. Dr. Brown Burke says these and other factors have influenced her three out of ten rating for the Minister of Education’s performance.
The education sector has been greatly handicapped by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced the government into implementing unprecedented measures, including protracted virtual classes
However, Dr. Brown-Burke says the measures the Ministry has taken have not been properly structured in regards to timelines. The opposition spokesperson is also concerned about the handling of funds.
