Ministry of Health tours Frazer’s Content – One community in St. Catherine was toured on the weekend by members of the Ministry of Health after recording five cases of the Coronavirus, COVID-19 was detected recently in the area. Meanwhile, one medical official from the St. Catherine health department was sensitizing residents and negating the stigma of the virus in the community of Frazer’s Content.
Senior public health nurse for the St. Catherine Health Department Marlene Stephenson outlined the aim of the visit of the health team. She says while the team was in the process of sensitizing the community and offering free COVID-19 testing, some residents were hesitant to take tests. She further added that some residents, in particular, are fearful of the stigma should they test positive for the virus. Stephenson however reassured them that it is imperative to be aware of their status and to follow all the COVID-19 protocols.
