On Tuesday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that the government will be spending approximately $1.3 billion on the National Mitigation, Sanitation, Drain-cleaning and Beautification Programme to be executed over the next several weeks, leading into the Christmas season and beyond.
Under the programme, $15 million will be allocated to each constituency to target critical drains, road patching and to undertake sanitation and vector control works.
