MNS Responds to Capital Budget Concerns

Reacting to questions raised by Opposition Senator Peter Bunting and Government Senator Don Wehby referencing a perceived unusually low expenditure from the capital budget by the Security Ministry this fiscal year, the Ministry of National Security provided a detailed account of how the majority of the remaining funds are being spent.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Courtney Williams who had previously said that “it’s disingenuous to speak to an 18% spend absent a context”, in reference to the Senator’s questions, provided one, with a recent press release and an interview with JIS.

In order to dispel any concerns in relation to negligence, the Permanent Secretary listed a number of projects in various stages of progress. He added that a further 32% of the capital budget is devoted to the final year of a multi-year cyber-security project. Watch the report:
