The police are investigating a mob attack that reportedly took place in Portmore, St. Catherine on the night of March 29, 2021.
In a video being heavily circulated on social media, the angry mob is seen attacking a man accused of trying to kidnap a girl.
The incident reportedly took place along Passage Fort Drive, while a candlelight vigil was being held for 20-year-old Khanice Jackson.
In the video a man is seen holding a gun at the alleged perpetrator’s head, while another man tells him to relax if he hasn’t done anything wrong.
Many persons, still outraged at what happened to Khanice Jackson have taken to social media, demanding that an example be made out of the man being attacked in the video.
This they argue may be a deterrent against rape and other acts of violence against women.
However, the Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine South Police Division, Senior Superintendent, Clive Blair says there are several accounts of what happened therefore, the police are investigating the incident.
He does however note that the man is believed to be of unsound mind, adding that the police are trying to locate him.
