Tourism officials say the recent world travel market’s ranking of Montego Bay as the top summer travel destination for 2022, is no surprise. The increase in tourism is expected to boost even more developments across the capital, and other tourist attractions. Destination Jamaica has seen a boost in tourism, as the industry recovers from the setback of the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent world travel market’s ranking placed Montego Bay as the top summer travel location for 2022. Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright credits several factors for Montego Bay’s favorable ranking.
He notes majority of tourists enter through the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, which influences the heightened tourist presence in the area. Seiveright praises the continued partnerships between airlines across the world, for fulfilling the demand for flights to Jamaica.
He says several popular stage shows and events hosted this summer also contributed to this boost in tourism. Adding that investors are looking to continue hotel developments, to meet the heightened tourism demands, He says this will undoubtedly provide employment for Jamaicans. Watch the full report:
