Member of Parliament for Western St Mary, Robert Montague is calling again on the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Jamaica to hold banks accountable for poor customer service offered to account holders. The call resurfaced during his contribution to the debate in Parliament.
‘Banks are putting profit over people,’ is the suggestion being made by Member of Parliament as he debates poor banking conditions. Montague says the people of Western St Mary are having a hard time with their banking needs, as the commercial banks have all gone cashless and are charging numerous fees.
Montague also says banks have failed to keep customers’ information confidential, adding if a customer should fall victim to lottery scamming the banks will not take responsibility. He is insisting there must be better customer service. Meantime, the Member of Parliament is seeking clarity regarding the country’s status towards becoming a republic. Watch the full report:
