More Funds Being Pumped Into National Security

The Government of Jamaica is pumping more funds into National Security. That’s the word from the Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr Nigel Carke who says the present government has spent over 40 billion dollars in capital expenditure on National Security.

The present state of Jamaica’s National Security system requires more resources and equipment to combat the crime problem in the nation. That has long been the belief of successive government’s who have allocated various sums of funding towards national security.

The latest state of emergency was declared for the Kingston East Division which has been marred by crime and violence for years. This move by the government is expected to put a grip on criminal elements and maintain peace in communities in the area. At the time, Prime Minister Andrew Holness explained that this was done acting on a recommendation of the leadership of the security forces.  The SOE is expected to impact hot spots such as Mountain View Avenue, Rockfort, Bull Bay and other communities in the police division.
