More Johnson And Johnson Jabs for the Homeless

The Marie Atkins Night Shelter housed a second vaccination blitz for the homeless on Sunday, October 11, 2021. Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams was present to share how the homeless community is being catered to during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine would render the homeless fully vaccinated. Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams, during an interview with CVM, said his hope was to see sixty (60) people being vaccinated, bringing the total number to one hundred and twenty (120). The Mayor said protecting the homeless community is a significant step in controlling the spread of COVID-19.

A small cluster of cases in the Vineyard Town Homeless center during 2020 was quickly managed by the Health Ministry which lead to a decision to halt admission at the shelters in Kingston and St Andrew. To further protect residents and workers, the Mayor reminds that only temporary lodging can be accommodated.
