According to Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke, a thorough investigation has been launched into billions of dollars unaccounted for at the Stocks and Securities Limited, (SSL). The Minister notes no stone will be left unturned, adding overseas entities are also involved in the investigations.
Additionally, while highlighting a section of the Financial Services Commissions Act, he says the FSC will provide the public with the regulatory chronology of the SSL fraud spanning 2010 through to 2023. He notes despite this investigation, persons in high positions at financial entities must not forget their sole purpose.
In the meantime, Dr. Clarke says this particular matter is not a political one, but rather as central issue that affects all Jamaicans. He adds penalties for financial crimes will be reviewed.
