More on UWI Proposed Gender Policy

In part two of this story CVM LIVE reporter Javine McLean gauged reactions from an educator regarding the University of the West Indies’ proposed policy to include persons of non-conforming genders. The current policy has been under review since it was released last week.

Educator Dr. Henley Morgan gave a more neutral response when asked about the new proposed gender policy at the University of the West Indies. The educator noted that the university is not solely a Jamaican Institution but rather an arm of CARICOM. This whilst indicating the University holds races and ethnic groups locally and internationally. Though UWI is part of CARICOM, the laws governing the land are still factors. He also indicates the policies have to take into consideration the standards regarding human rights. Watch the report:
