More Police Resources / Peace Management Initiative

Efforts to tackle the scourge of crime and violence and promote better role models in inner-city communities have not dwindled.

In 2017, a Jamaican recording artiste from the inner-city kick-started a tour dubbed “Stop The Crime and Violence” which today saw the youth of Payne Land, being the focus. The Member of Parliament for St. Andrew South-West used the opportunity to call for more police resources in her constituency as well as the revival of the Peace Management Initiative.

Dr. Angela Brown-Burke while partaking in the “Stop the Crime and Violence Tour” in Payne Land on Thursday, told our news team that more police resources are needed in the constituency. Again, the effectiveness of a state of public emergency (SOE) forms a critical part of the conversation.

Additionally, Dr. Brown-Burke says the Peace Management Initiative (PMI) needs to be revived, adding that it has saved lives.

Meanwhile, coordinator of the “Stop The Crime and Violence  Tour’ Taj Christie, says, over the past 4 years, roughly 30 inner city communities have been part of the initiative, adding that the tour continues in trench town on Friday, December 24, 2021.
