Information Minister Robert Morgan says the move to ban music promoting illicit activities from the airways was not instructed by the government. Instead, he notes the Broadcasting Commission is well within its right to act on behalf of the public in promoting decency and standards. A day after the broadcasting commission announced the ban on select music promoting scamming and other criminal lifestyles, the media tackled the government on the move. When questioned if the government used the oversight entity as a crime-fighting tool to pull the music from the airways, the Information Minister responded,
Morgan explained there are other spaces that can play this music but they are not necessarily fit for public consumption.
