Head of the Public Safety & Traffic enforcement branch, of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Senior Superintendent Gary Mckenzie is issuing a warning to motorcyclists who continue to ride recklessly.
The warning comes as motorcyclists account for the majority of road users killed since the start of the year. He is also encouraging other motorists to exercise caution when traversing the public roadways, as fatal crashes and fatalities have increased by fourteen per cent and thirteen per cent respectively when compared with the similar period of January to July in 2020.
Motorcyclists are being encouraged to obtain a full driver’s license. Another increasing trend, motorcycles are now being equipped with very loud mufflers, which SSP Mckenzie says goes above the normal noise level.
