Murders Increase in St. James Since SOE Declaration

Murders have increased in St. James since the declaration of a State of Public Emergency, SOPE, for two western parishes; the latest of which happened on Wednesday night leaving two people dead and two others injured. Dead is 30-year-old Jermaine Miller a businessman of Bogue Village, St. James, a 31-year-old, Egg Farmer of Bowen Hill in the parish, and a 37-year-old driver of Gordon Crescent also in the parish. An unidentified male believed to be in his late twenties was also among those killed according to police reports at about 9:30 pm Wednesday at the Supreme Venture’s retailer, in the vicinity of Bogue Village Supermarket Ltd. The victims were in the retail shop when they were pounced upon by armed men. The police were alerted, and on their arrival, one unidentified male was seen sitting in front of the supreme ventures retailer with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

He was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Miller was seen lying on his right side, in a pool of blood with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his left foot, left shoulder, abdomen, and upper body. He was taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is also understood a man, who received a gunshot wound to the left leg, drove himself to the Cornwall Regional Hospital along with another injured person, who received a gunshot wound to the buttocks. They were admitted in serious but stable condition. In the meantime, our news team caught up with Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang.
