National Vaccination Program Budget Reduced

In a release from the Health Ministry on Monday, a breakdown of the National Vaccination Program budget was outlined stating that in addition to the over 5 billion Jamaica dollars that the government of Jamaica has allocated to spend on procuring the COVID-19 vaccines, the Health Ministry is expected to expend some $978 million Jamaica dollars on other resources to ensure a successful national vaccination programme.

However, during a press briefing on Tuesday, the Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton sought to highlight adjustments made to the allocation, including the vaccination training program, which is down to 14.33 million dollars.

The public education through promotions is now down to 50 million, this as Dr. Tufton says the Ministry will use other alternatives.

He also adds that the allocation information sessions which was 28.7 million have been cut to 20 million.

The other section that sees a reduction is research. This area the Minister says is crucial.
