Chants and a sorrowful plea. Residents in Needham Pen district in Lyssons, St. Thomas are upset about the lack of water that has been plaguing the area for years. They claim that even though there is no water in their pipes they are constantly being flooded with monthly bills.
One resident notes it is very expensive to have water trucked to the area. This while also highlighting the distance some residents have to travel with containers. Another resident points to another concern- the area lacks development. They say after numerous inquiries to the National Water Commission, they were told four months ago a tree fell severing the JPS wire that provides electricity to the pumping station. They say they were told until that is resolved no water can be pumped to the area. Residents have, however, not gotten a timeline as to when the matter will be resolved. They are appealing to the authorities for intervention.
