After numerous setbacks, Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James finally unlocked its eye clinic. The long awaited addition took place on Wednesday, bridging the gap in ophthalmology services that existed even prior to the onset of COVID-19 in 2020. The hospital had significantly reduced its capacity to offer eye care following the closure of its towers several years ago, leading to a prioritization of more critical cases over ophthalmological services.
Dr. Charmaine Scarlett, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at CRH, expressed confidence that the new clinic will significantly bolster their ability to provide crucial eye care services.
