New Information Emerge About JCF Overtime Battle

New information has surfaced regarding the recent interdiction of the Chairman of the Police Federation. The interdiction occurred following certain remarks about overtime at a funeral. According to sources from CVM Live, a critical meeting took place involving members of the Police High Command and the Federation’s executives, during which tempers flared. The implementation of a Workforce Management Solution (WMS) has significantly improved the handling of overtime work management for the rank and file of the constabulary. Since its introduction on April 2023, nearly a billion dollars has been paid in overtime to approximately 8,000 out of the 12,000 members.

However, the system uncovered anomalies, as some overtime claims submitted exceeded the allowable 20 to 50 hours per week or 80 to 200 hours per month. Some of these claims came from the Police Federation’s executives, who reportedly claimed up to 200 hours of overtime per month. It has also come to light that attendance at funerals was being used to form overtime claims, raising concerns among some members of the officer corps. A meeting between the High Command and the Federation’s executive, held prior to the funeral this month where the controversial remarks were made, resulted in the High Command extending the overtime cap of 80 hours per month to the Federation’s executive. Before this decision, the 8 members of the executive had filed exorbitant claims, leading to a standoff between the two parties.
