New Parliament Facing Development Set Backs

Construction on Jamaica’s billion-dollar parliamentary development is experiencing setbacks due to procurement processes, according to Information Minister Robert Morgan. Originally slated to commence late last year, the project’s timeline is now expected to be extended. The government’s intention to build a state-of-the-art parliament was first announced in 2018, with a proposed completion date of June 2025. Morgan acknowledged the delay but assured that efforts are underway to expedite the first phase of the two-phased development. The minister clarified misconceptions about potential home demolitions near the proposed site and did not provide an updated timeline for the project.
