After 13 years of long anticipation residents in Content, St Catherine, are expected to receive a new water treatment plant to better meet the demand for water in the Kingston Metropolitan Area (KMA), Portmore, and Spanish Town.
The plant which is expected to be the second largest in Jamaica will transfer 15 million gallons of water to benefit approximately 150-thousand customers. Increased water woes across Jamaica have pushed the government to provide an alternative route to supply Jamaicans with potable water; this comes after the government signed a partnership agreement to build a new water treatment plant in content St Catherine.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says this plant will supply approximately 150 -thousand customers with 15 gallons of water daily, to reduce the trucking of water and water restrictions during dry periods.
