No Need to Introduce Nuclear Power to Jamaica

Approximately one month ago Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, Daryl Vaz said, the government will be looking to introduce nuclear power in Jamaica. While the Minister notes this is important and will be used as a long-term medium, the President of the East Wood Park Gardens Citizens’ Association, Rodger Mckenzie, says nuclear power is useless in Jamaica. He likened nuclear energy to an experiment at technology. Mckenzie reiterates there are other solutions that exist which can create energy despite nuclear energy being cheaper. He notes it is important for the government to seek alternative options that can compete directly with nuclear power while considering the public’s safety.
