No Rest for The Dead; Burials Delayed Due to Strike at Meadowrest

It was an emotional day on Thursday, June 10, at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St. Catherine after families were forced to go home without burying their dead due to industrial action.

Workers were reportedly on strike due to a breakdown in wage negotiations with management leaving mourners frustrated and heartbroken.

Mourners who arrived at the Meadowrest Memorial Park to bury their dead were held at the mercy of employees who were reportedly on strike.

Hearses lined the street with caskets still inside, unable to enter the compound because of a breakdown between management and staff.

The frustration soon grew into an emotional one for family members and friends who claimed they waited a long while to bury their loved ones.
