The National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, is cautioning, that the rat infestation at the Nelson Mandela Park, uncovered by CVM TV, may not go away anytime soon.
In an interview with CVM LIVE earlier today, the authority revealed the frightening reality of the rat population increasing in and around the park and is urging stakeholders to take a more proactive role, in helping to eradicate the scourge.
CVM LIVE also understands the state of the unhealthy park, is being investigated. The plague of rats which has made Nelson Mandela Park and environs their home, will continue to have a growing population if vendors and patrons who use the space continue to dispose of their garbage inappropriately.
This is according to the executive director at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Audley Gordon. The recurring rat infestation and incessant garbage pile up across the country, he explains, is a glaring indication of decay in civic pride. He adds the issue will continue to nibble away at efforts to improve society if those contributing to the problem, don’t take responsibility.
He told CVM LIVE, the entity is playing its part. Watch the report:
