Nurses Association of Jamaica Annual Conference

The 75th annual meeting of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, (NAJ) was held in Kingston, where re-elected President Patsy Edwards-Henry expressed her gratitude on reprising her role. She shared her vision for the NAJ in her development plan for all nurses.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Nurses Association, two-term President Patsy Edwards-Henry says the Nurses Association of Jamaica will not accept any mediocre deal from the Government in their wage negotiations. She notes that the Government of Jamaica will have to step up to the plate and do due diligent to the nurses of Jamaica, adding that they are tired of ‘lip service’.

Guest speaker Bishop Steve Edwards lauds the nurses for their work ethics, adding that they have gone above and beyond during the pandemic. He says the pandemic has affected the lives of everyone especially nurses. Bishop Edwards says Jamaica must continue to depend on the essential workers to sustain livelihoods.

President Edwards-Henry says she has initiated plans aimed at assisting her fellow nurses with tangible benefits such as houses, grants, and loans. She commends the nurses who were awarded for their efforts in fighting against COVID-19 last year.
