Nursing Home residents find Shelter in Ewarton Gospel Church – The Ewarton Gospel Lighthouse church in Spanish Town, St. Catherine transformed its facility into a shelter to cater to the residents of the Faith View Nursing Home after heavy rains forced them out.
Pastor Lois Hamilton Forrester of the church says they’ve been hosting the residents for more than a week.
This was the facility on Sunday, October 25. Residents curled up on sofas, chairs, and makeshift beds to stay dry. Appliances, bedding, and clothes were soaked.
Pastor Hamilton Forrester says the church has been receiving assistance from church and community members, the business community and political representatives to ensure that the facility is not only safe and secure but as comfortable as possible.
She says a team from the Ministries of Social Security and Health and Wellness visited the facility recently. When asked about the arrangement to host the indigents, she explains that the nursing home is currently being reinforced. In the meantime, they will stay at the Ewarton Gospel Lighthouse Church.
