Residents of Pleasant Hill in North West St Catherine are living in fear of losing their homes, they say they were hopeful they would be given an opportunity at regularizing, but their dreams were short-lived. Last week the residents say while Clifton residents were being bulldozed and removed from government lands, they were sent friendly letters of eviction.
Nowhere else to go, explaining many of them have occupied the lands long before electricity was even available in the area, some from as far back as over 80 years ago.
Unlike the residents of Clifton in Portmore, nearly one hundred settlers say they received letters of eviction to take effect on December 6. Watch the report:
