NWC: Ida And Grace Leave 26 Million Dollars of Damage

The National Water Commission (NWC) shared how the passage of tropical depression Grace and hurricane Ida impacted their facilities island-wide. During their press briefing recently it was shared that over 20 million dollars worth of damage was brought on by the storms.

In a quarterly press briefing held recently the National Water Commission President and CEO Mark Barnett shared that the company’s systems fared well against the impacts of Grace and Ida.

Grace created over 20 million dollars worth of damage; 208 of the 210 systems that were affected by Grace were back in operation by Wednesday, September 1. Electrical issues, water turbidity were the main reasons for these systems being affected

Ida impacted 60 facilities 50 of which were fixed. The issues included broken pipeline and electrical issues. Once again turbidity proved to be a challenge at the varying water treatment facilities
