NWC Responds to NEPA Advisory on Charlemont Facility

In response to a recent advisory from the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the National Water Commission (NWC) has provided an update on the situation at its Charlemont facility in St Catherine.

The NWC has confirmed that a temporary interruption in operations occurred at the Charlemont facility due to an electrical issue. The incident resulted in an overflow from the facility into the neighboring drain, exacerbated by the substantial customer flow within the network. Efforts were promptly initiated, and the NWC is pleased to report that the electrical problem has been successfully resolved. The Charlemont plant is now back in operation, with the Utility’s maintenance team actively monitoring the facility to ensure the resumption of normal operations.

In light of this unfortunate incident, the NWC is committed to addressing the aftermath by conducting a thorough cleanup of the immediate area. Additionally, the Commission is implementing extra measures to prevent the recurrence of such situations in the future. The NWC encourages residents and stakeholders in the affected area to stay informed about ongoing activities and to report any concerns promptly.

The Commission remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of service and environmental responsibility. The swift resolution of the Charlemont facility issue exemplifies the NWC’s commitment to minimizing disruptions and safeguarding the communities it serves.
