Public Affairs Commentator, Kevin O’Brien Chang in assessing the state of the People’s National Party (PNP) as it continues to show signs of discord, says the party is terribly divided.
Chang believes since the September election the PNP continues to deteriorate and remains deep in chaos.
As the party prepares to contest the Local Government election, O’Brien Chang says things aren’t in their favor as they’re failing to convince Jamaicans that they are ready to take charge of the Municipal Corporations.
The 83-year-old party continues to reveal internal conflicts, most recently with five resignations.
One of the three unopposed Vice President nominees, Councilor for the Whitfield Town Division, Eugene Kelly, says his nomination comes as there is a need for the PNP to strengthen its grass root’s approach.
O’Brien Chang says the absence of an elected Member of Parliament in some of the most crucial positions in the PNP, is a sign that the party is disjointed.
The Local Government election is due in February 2022.
