October 2022 Completion Date for South Coast Highway

CEO of the National Works Agency, (NWA) E.G Hunter has today announced an October 2022 completion date for the long anticipated south coast highway. This projection comes despite the agency being slightly behind in its current execution.

The South Coast Highway is being constructed through a partnership with the NWA, China Harbour Engineering Company, and the National Road Operating and Construction Company, (NROCC)

Hunter provided the update at Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee, (PAAC). The eastern portion of the highway will span Harbour View, St. Andrew into Port Antonio, Portland.

An additional 4.5 billion dollars was recommended for allocation to the NWA for the completion of the project in the supplementary estimates of expenditure recently. Mr. Hunter says while they are a little behind schedule the October 2022 date appears feasible.
